Trendar (the “Service”) is a free, individually operated service that collects the minimum amount of personal information and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and other applicable laws. This policy explains the information the Service collects, the purposes of use, retention and destruction, and your rights.
1. Personal information we collect and how we collect it
- When you sign in with Google: email address, name, and profile picture. You provide these directly through Google account authentication (OAuth). You can use most features without signing in.
- In the course of using the Service: items you bookmark, your email digest subscription settings (delivery frequency), and profile settings (display name and keywords of interest, only when you enter them yourself).
- Automatically collected: a session cookie to keep you signed in (essential), and your display theme setting (browser localStorage, not sent to the server).
- When you send an inquiry or feedback (form or email): the content and (optionally entered) reply email, plus de-identified access information (a hash) for spam prevention. Used only for the purpose of responding.
- When you post a message of support: your Google account name and the message content. It is posted publicly on the About page. If you would like it removed, please request so at the contact below.
2. Purposes of using personal information
- Sign-in and user identification (linking bookmarks and settings to your account)
- Sending email digests (only when you opt in yourself from settings)
The Service does not use personal information for any purpose other than the above, and does not contact you for marketing purposes.
3. Retention and use period
- Bookmarks and digest settings: retained until you delete them yourself or request deletion.
- If you unsubscribe from the digest, we immediately stop using your email for delivery purposes.
- Session cookie: deleted on sign-out or expiry.
4. Provision to third parties
The Service does not sell or provide your personal information to third parties.
5. Processing entrustment (infrastructure)
The following infrastructure providers process data to operate the Service. Each provider protects data in accordance with its own security standards and privacy policy.
- Vercel: website and server hosting, cookieless traffic statistics (Web Analytics)
- Neon: database (storing bookmarks and subscription settings)
- Google: sign-in authentication (OAuth)
- Resend: email delivery (digests) and handling of inquiry emails received at @trendar.kr
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Service uses only the essential session cookie needed to keep you signed in. Traffic statistics are aggregated with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not identify individuals. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes. If we introduce advertising (e.g. Google AdSense) or analytics tools in the future, we will reflect the details of any third-party cookie use and how to opt out in this policy and give notice in advance.
7. Your rights
- You can delete bookmarks directly within the Service.
- You can unsubscribe from the digest at any time from the settings page or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
- You can use Delete account on the settings page to immediately delete the data linked to your account (bookmarks, subscriptions, support messages, and profile) yourself. For inquiry and feedback records, only the content remains for operational purposes and the account link (author and email) is disassociated. For any other access or deletion requests, contact us below and we will handle them without delay.
8. Security measures
All communications are encrypted with HTTPS, and database access is restricted to authenticated servers. We do not collect passwords (Google sign-in only).
